Former Sanya Serenity Marina manager starts new yacht industry consultancy
| 5 January 2021
Godfrey Zwygart, a long-time veteran of the China yachting scene, has become the dealer and Brand Ambassador for Dynamiq yachts, which is based out of Monaco.
For ten years, Zwygart was director of operations at Sanya Serenity Marina, perhaps the best known of Sanya’s many marinas and the host of two editions of The Ocean Race. Sanya Serenity Marina was developed by Luhuitou Tourism Development Co Ltd as part of an enormous integrated property development in the surrounding peninsula.
In a statement, Zwygart said that he would continue working with Serenity Marina as a consultant. He has also established his own company, Marevisio, a Hong Kong and China consultancy providing services in yacht management, superyacht staffing and training, marina management and M&A advisory for the industry.
Zwygart is a former French navy captain and a captain of commercial vessels and superyachts. He worked with the Sanya government on establishing the yacht industry in Hainan and China, and is a mediator at the Hainan Marine Court.
Hainan Island has been the focus of renewed industry attention in the wake of a free trade zone plan announced by China’s central government in June 2020. In addition to dramatically lowering taxes and duties on imported yachts, the plan focuses on developing the leisure marine and yachting industry. Several Hong Kong-based dealerships indicated new interest in Hainan, after the China market seemed to falter for several years.
Dynamiq was founded in 2014 by yacht broker and designer Sergei Dobroserdov. The company builds a range of all-aluminium yachts from 90 feet to 144 feet featuring naval architecture by Dutch firm Van Oossanen, which specialises in fast displacement hull design. Dynamiq’s newest line up is the Global Series, which offers long range at displacement speed while still having top speeds of over 16 knots.
The company recently released a video of its new flagship, the Grand Turismo Transatlantic 135, Stefania, which is due to be launched in early 2021.
