The Singapore Yacht Show 2020 has been cancelled, according to a statement made through the show’s official Facebook page on September 3.
The 10th edition of Asia’s largest luxury marine show, which had been postponed from its original dates in March, was due to be held at One°15 Marina Sentosa Cove from October 15-18. The next Singapore Yacht Show will be held in its traditional April slot next year.
“In light of the ongoing Covid-19 situation, we have unfortunately had to make the difficult decision to postpone the 10th edition of the Singapore Yacht Show for a second time, to April 2021,” says the statement, which was posted on Facebook on Thursday evening local time.
“It is now not certain that trade exhibitions will be allowed to take place in Singapore in October after all, and in view of the scale of our event and the logistical preparations necessary for building the show infrastructure and organising the yachts in the marina, we owe it to all our partners to make an early and responsible decision.”
The statement continues: “We would like to thank all of our exhibitors, sponsors, venue owners, suppliers and other business partners who have always been and continue to be incredibly supportive. We will pull together and plan for a bigger, better, and safer Singapore Yacht Show in April 2021.”
Any tickets already purchased are automatically valid for the 2021 edition of the show, the statement concludes.
An official statement is expected from show organisers Verventia in the coming days. More to follow.
