The Absolute 60 Fly marks the Italian brand’s most aggressive foray yet into bright interiors and large windows, a feature that marked Absolute’s first models. So it is fitting that they dubbed this model Prisma.
The best way to get a first glimpse of the new 60 Fly and its prismatic promise is to see it at night. That way, the enormous windows on the main deck saloon, the master cabin in the bow and the beautifully integrated lighting all come into play, showing the spaciousness of this new yacht.
The Absolute 60 Fly premiered at the 2021 Cannes Yachting Festival, along with an enormous display by Absolute Yachts, which is becoming a premier brand in its own right, thanks to its willingness to aggressively adopt new styling and new engineering.
The enormous windows are only the start of a list of features, both noticeable and subtle, that make Absolute Yachts a pleasure to purchase. On the 60 Fly, a side window opens across from the helm station door, allowing a cross breeze. The hard top comes with solar panel installation, which generates enough power to handle the indoor load, apart from the air conditioning. A handy boat hook is unobtrusively stored in the aft cockpit. An emergency life raft is concealed in an easy-to-reach spot in the flybridge. All point to the thoughtfulness of Absolute’s designers and engineers.
What really marks out the Absolute 60 Fly is the experience of being inside the yacht. The large saloon windows give the interior a beautiful sea view, of course. The door connecting the main saloon with the aft deck opens almost completely, creating a huge area.
The aft deck features a window at the transom, as is rapidly becoming standard on new motor yachts. This allows guests and owner to watch kids playing on the swim platform, but it also makes the job of stern-to docking much easier.
Furnishings on the aft deck area are loose and easy to adjust, so guests and owner can configure seating in whatever way works best. If you want to enjoy a few drinks facing aft and enjoying the view, fine. If everyone wishes to gather around for a snack, that works as well. The aft deck has been kept large, with some of the interior main deck space given over to the aft deck area.
The swim platform covers over 10sqm, a huge space for a yacht this size. An electrically-activated sunshade (controls are at the aft deck door) covers almost the entire area, creating a beautiful space at anchor. Taken together, the aft deck and swim platform account for nearly one-third of the overall length of the yacht.
Up top, the flybridge offers a large space that is complete with adjustable, loose furnishings on the aft terrace, while the amidships wet bar and ice service will keep the food and drinks flowing all day. Forward, a large bow area lounge offers a flexible, functional arrangement.
The main saloon comes in three possible layouts, depending on whether an owner plans to have small groups onboard or entertain larger groups of guests. The layout of the Absolute 60 Fly features the galley located aft, adjoining the aft deck. The main deck interior is bright and open, and full of the little touches you’d expect from Absolute.

Below deck, the view gets brighter still. The master cabin on a mid-sized motor yacht is normally placed amidships. On the Absolute 60 Fly, the master is located in the bow, with a forward-facing bed. The bathroom is located forward of the bed. This is the kind of layout you would expect to find on a much larger yacht. Moreover, the windows at the bow are absolutely huge. When lying on the bed relaxing with a book at the end of the day, an owner will not feel cramped at all. This is a space that can be enjoyed! The master cabin is on a “mid-deck” level – halfway down from the main deck and just up from the VIP and double cabin amidships. This creates the best sense of privacy and insulation from noise.
Absolute designs many of its yachts for the US market, which means owners benefit from a huge amount of interior room. If you plan on spending time overnight on your yacht, then this is a very useful feature.
There is a VIP cabin amidships and double cabin for the kids. All the doors in the cabins below deck are sliding doors, making tight spaces feel more open and accessible. The Absolute 60 Fly comes with a crew cabin, with an entrance at the transom. The cabin is compact, but offers space enough for two, combined with a shower and head, and laundry service. However, the 60 Fly can also be ordered with this space opened up as extra storage.

The 60 Fly is large, but the designers at Absolute also had owner-operators in mind. The side door at the helm station, the full joystick control at the aft deck and the main helm combine to allow a captain full visibility all around while docking and underway.
Big screens at the helm station and anti-glare design make life easy for the captain. Even more importantly, Absolute announced in the summer of 2021 a partnership to provide Volvo Penta Assisted Docking systems for all Absolute Yachts, including the 60 Fly. The system coordinates engine electronics, GPS data, IPS inputs and sensors and other data to allow a captain to dock easily. A captain uses the joystick control to tell the boat where to go, and the sensors and engines will automatically correct for windage and current to make docking – the most stressful part of a yachting trip – a lot more manageable.

The Absolute 60 Fly is powered on twin Volvo IPS 950s. Trial reports suggest that at 2,000rpm, the 60 burns about 180 litres of fuel per hour, giving some 20 knots of boats speed and a run time of about 15 hours on her fuel capacity. But with a boat named after a prism, an owner will probably want to spend more time at anchor, enjoying the absolute views of the sea!
