The organisers of Thailand Charter Week have postponed the next edition of the show to 2021, as a response to ongoing Covid restrictions.
In a public announcement made on August 11, the Thai Yachting Business Association confirmed that the show, originally slated for November 14-18, 2020, will now be held from November 12-15, 2021.
Inspired by the success of Antigua Charter Show and the MYBA Charter Show, the Thailand Charter Week was launched in 2019, and is Asia’s first international event geared exclusively towards the industry. Visiting charter brokers are invited to consult and learn about Phuket and the surrounding areas, with a view to helping them sell Phuket to their international clientele.
The unique format of the inaugural six-day show in 2019 allowed attendees to spend three days touring the yachts on display and getting to know the captains and crew. After the first three days, the yachts will then head out on overnight cruises to allow brokers and other participants to familiarise themselves with the cruising grounds of Thailand’s Andaman Sea.
The preliminary plan for the second edition in 2021 is for the opening ceremony to kick off at 5pm on November 12, followed by two days of on and off water displays at Phuket Yacht Haven at Laem Phrao. On November 15, all yachts will take part in a cruise to Phang Nga Bay, before returning to the marina for the closing party. More details will be announced closer to the date.
